Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She founded The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, journalist, TV host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Following her move to England from Greece when she was 16 and obtaining an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. The first non-English student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Following graduation, she left her mark as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which offered critical observations about the current political climate. Her popularity helped her to convince several stars to voice their views on current events, political and culture. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she declared herself an independent candidate for the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. She also headed an Detroit fuel-efficient car project. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top women in media gaining 12th position on their list and in the same year Guardian named her to the top 100 media list. AOL bought The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. Then she was appointed the President of AOL's media group. It included a number of AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father. However, it was her relationship with her mother which formed her. As a child, she showed leadership traits that she still is known for. In her 16th year, she travelled to England to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the colleges debating societies, which she later became the first female and foreign president. In 1972, she earned an advanced degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic and as a host on television. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
